Originally from London, England Lindsay is a former media professional who worked in advertising, publishing and the music business. Lindsay later retrained to become a midwife and delivered countless babies into the world at the famous St Thomas’ hospital in London.
After moving to Brooklyn in 2010 with her family and unable to practice midwifery in New York, Lindsay became a real estate agent, and it quickly became her passion. “I’m a people person and I’ve always been interested in transition,” says Lindsay. “As a midwife, I guided parents through the transition to parenthood. As a real estate agent, I guide my clients through the transition from one home to another. Essentially, working as an agent is a helping profession much like midwifery, and in both professions, I enjoy advocating for my clients and helping them make informed decisions. Also, I think having been a midwife, I know how to establish trust quickly and in real estate that’s really important.”
If you’re thinking of buying a property this spring, Lindsay says it’s one of the best markets for buyers she’s seen in the past 3-4 years. “We’re seeing a pronounced buyer’s market right now – low interest rates, lots of inventory, price cuts across the board, and properties staying on the market for longer. Prices have leveled off or in some cases dropped a few percentage points, and we’re seeing very few highest and best bidding wars.”
This shouldn’t be too much concern for sellers though, as Lindsay attributes some of sales slowdown to “ambitious” pricing by sellers. “When selling your home, it’s always the same: price realistically and present well. Overpricing, particularly in a buyer’s market will most often lead to a property taking time to sell, and eventual price reductions. However, despite the current market, realistically priced and well presented properties are still selling.”
Lindsay has a particular interest in working with sellers to prepare their properties. She often stages homes herself prior to marketing. “It taps into my creative side and it’s a part of the job that I adore. Plus, staging can really make the difference between selling or not selling and I’ve consistently sold homes that I’ve staged quickly and at great price points.”
Working for Compass, an innovative residential real estate brokerage that has changed the game with its ground breaking technology and marketing and its reputation for recruiting top agents, Lindsay feels like she’s found her real estate family. “Despite the tech and marketing capabilities I have at my fingertips, real estate really comes down to a few simple skills: really listening to what’s important to your clients and going above and beyond to help them achieve the outcome they desire. If I’m not putting in 110% for my clients. I’m simply not doing my job,” declares Lindsay.
Lindsay holds regular buyer seminars for those interested in taking the next step toward homeownership. If you’d like to attend one of these seminars, reach out to Lindsay at lindsay.owen@compass.com.

I’m so pleased to see Lindsay Owen profiled here. When I was undergoing a major move – from Charlotte, NC to a small, rural town in the Catskills – Lindsay was with me every step of the way. If she became frustrated with my sometimes crazy indecision, she never showed it. She’s a keeper! Thank you, Lindsay!
